It didn't take long for Roma to show what they were capable of at the "Via del Mare," as following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Fiorentina in the season opener, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team defeated Lecce by the same score.
The “Giallorossi” laid the groundwork for the victory very early on. Just four minutes in, Malen capitalized on a catastrophic mistake by Gaspar and opened the scoring. The Dutch forward was again the star of the show in the 20th minute, when, following a give-and-go between Soule and Wesley, he found himself inside the box and, with a beautiful chip shot, made it 0-2, already bringing his league tally to 5 goals!

Malen, however, didn’t stop there. This time he turned playmaker, providing the assist to Matías Soule in the 25th minute. The Argentine couldn’t beat Falcone on his first attempt, but he grabbed the rebound and put the score at 0-3.
The game was essentially over before the half-hour mark. Roma continued to completely control the pace of the game and had chances to score even more goals. In fact, Malen missed a great opportunity for a hat trick just before halftime. The final score of 0-4 came in the 65th minute, with Rodrigo Mora scoring his first goal in Italy off an assist from Mancini.
Two matches, two wins, eight goals and a clean sheet for AEK’s Champions League opponent (01/19/27), which is showing early on that Gasperini’s second season on the bench will be even better!
