Ángel Di María paid tribute to Lionel Messi for all he has done for his national team following the 39-year-old star’s decision to retire from the “Albiceleste.” The 38-year-old winger has been a teammate of “Leo” for many years and speaks highly of him.
“It’s so hard to read that you’re retiring, so hard to read that we won’t see you anymore under the blue-and-white sky. All I know is that I was born in the right century to be able to watch you, enjoy watching you, and, on top of that, share all these years with you on the national team. To watch you fulfill all your dreams, especially your dearest one: to become a world champion. You decided to take this step, which surely neither you nor any of us Argentines wanted to see happen. But it happened, and today, as always, we’ll thank you so much for everything. We’ll be grateful to you for the rest of our lives that you’re Argentine, that you brought Argentina to the top of the world. for choosing to be Argentine, when you could very well have chosen something else. You are timeless and the greatest in all of history,” Di María said in his message.
