A final appeal, just before tomorrow’s session of the Labor Advisory Council, regarding the 12% cut to the pensions of members of the Security Forces and the Armed Forces.
In a statement, the Police Branch states that it expects the final text of the bill to include “clear and fair provisions for the elimination of the 12% deduction in cases of mandatory retirement for members of the Security Forces and the Armed Forces.”
It adds that, otherwise, the affected individuals will continue to seek justice through every legal and institutional means.

“This is not merely a financial or fiscal measure. It is a serious and long-standing injustice against people who served the State under special, demanding, and often dangerous conditions,” the Branch states.
It adds that “it is unthinkable that people who, due to the nature of their duties and their special service status, are required to retire from active service before the age of 65, should then suffer a 12% cut to their pension.”
The Police Branch of the ISOTITA Union states that “this injustice must be abolished without hesitation.”
