The Revolutionary Guards announced that two tankers caught fire after striking mines while attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz outside the route designated by Iranian dforces.
In their statement, the Guard said that the two ships had asked the U.S. military to sail through an “illegal route” before “striking mines and exploding…and are currently on fire.” They had been forced to disembark their crews and had come under the control of U.S. agents, despite warnings from the Revolutionary Guards’ naval forces about the danger of traversing a mined route.
The Saudi Arabian state-owned shipping company Bahri announced today that two Filipino sailors were killed during yesterday’s attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
“Bahri confirms that the vessel Sidr was involved in a security incident while transiting the Strait of Hormuz” on the night of August 31, the company announced via X, confirming the deaths of the two crew members.
