Olympiacos is looking into the case of Leon Bailey

To strengthen the wings of the offense
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Olympiacos is seriously considering a very strong option for the winger position, with Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey at the top of their list. The Jamaican international attacking midfielder is out of Unai Emery’s plans and is looking for the next step in his career.

Following the historic signing of Gustavo Puerta, the Piraeus club are also looking for a highly talented winger to complete the puzzle of José Luis Medilibar’s roster, with the 29-year-old winger standing out as a potential candidate.

Currently, according to Transfermarkt, he is valued at 14,000,000 euros, and his contract expires next summer. He was signed by Aston Villa for 32,000,000 euros in the summer of 2021, following outstanding seasons with Bayer Leverkusen that put him on the radar of many top clubs. Notably, he left the German club with 39 goals and 25 assists after 156 appearances.

His numbers at Aston Villa were on par with those at Bayer, as he scored 23 goals and recorded 25 assists in 163 matches across all competitions. Last season, however, it was decided to send him on loan to Roma. He remained there for six months, seeing very little playing time, and after 11 matches and just 2 assists, he returned to England. The rest of the season unfolded in much the same way, as he played in 18 matches for Aston Villa before the season ended.

In the summer of 2015, Genk signed him from Trencin’s U19 team for 1.4 million euros, and in Belgium, the Jamaican international racked up 77 matches, 15 goals, and 19 assists.
