New developments in the case of the death of 27-year-old Benderiye Naz, who fell from the 5th floor of an apartment building in the province of Mardin, Turkey, have emerged from witness statementsin the case file compiled regarding the events of August 11.
Although her husband, Levent Naz, who has been arrested, claimed that “my wife committed suicide by jumping out the window,” at least three witness accounts revealed a different picture, as he reportedly said “I pushed her down; I killed her,” while shortly before she died, the unfortunate woman is said to have screamed, “Save me, he’s going to kill me.”

The Husband’s
Testimony In his testimony to the prosecutor, Levent Naz denied the charges and described the incident as follows:
“In the kitchen, I saw my wife exchanging messages with someone on her cell phone. When she tried to hide it, I forcibly took it from her and saw that she was using a secret account. When I told her I would inform her family, she had a breakdown. While I was talking to my brother, saying, “My wife is talking to other men; come get the kids,” she ran into the living room, opened the window, and jumped out. I ran after her and tried to grab her by the arms, but I couldn’t. Under no circumstances did I push her.”
The Witnesses Who Contradict
Him The claim of suicide, however, is undermined by the witness statements included in the case file.
The driver, A.A., who transported Levent Naz after the incident, testified that he heard him yelling at his brother on the phone: “I did it—I knocked her down—come quickly!”
The victim’s brother-in-law, V.Nt., stated that the defendant called him and said: “I caught Bentrigye talking to other people; I beat her badly. Now I’ve killed her—come get her.”
Meanwhile, the neighbor, H.A., who heard a commotion coming from the apartment on that fateful night, testified that shortly before she fell from the 5th floor, the woman—a mother of four—was screaming “Save me, Levent is going to kill me.” According to him, immediately after the incident, the defendant told him: “Bedriye was talking to someone else; I pushed her down.”
The victim’s older sister, Filiz Dilekçi, stated that her sister had been murdered and called for the perpetrator to be punished in an exemplary manner: “They killed her in a barbaric way. Her husband pushed her off the 5th floor. This heartless man left four children without a mother. We want him to receive the harshest possible sentence and for justice to be served.”
