This is the moment when members of the OPE and the Limassol Traffic Police are pursuing the suspect van.

Driving dangerously and recklessly, the driver, in an attempt to evade the police, weaves in and out of fields in the Ypsona area, drives up onto a sidewalk, and runs a red light.

Finally, after a brief but intense chase, they managed to stop him at the traffic lights in the industrial area of Ypsona.

The police officers handcuffed the two passengers.

The high-speed chase, which took place during rush hour in the area, began when a member of the bicycle police signaled the driver to stop for a check, as the van was considered suspicious and had no license plates. The driver sped up, leading to the chase.

According to the police, the driver continued on his way, with the officer in pursuit while simultaneously calling for backup from other patrol cars. The van drove erratically, causing four traffic accidents, though fortunately no one was injured. Eventually, after shots were fired, they managed to stop the van at the traffic lights in the Ypsona industrial area, with the driver causing a fifth accident.

Two young Turkish Cypriots, aged 20 and 19, were riding in the van. The authorities handcuffed them.

According to reports, the 20-year-old is known to the authorities, as he was involved in a similar incident about a month ago. He was driving a double-cab pickup when a member of Team Z signaled him to stop. A chase ensued, during which he struck the police officer with his vehicle and fled the scene. A case was immediately filed against him when he was located and arrested, and the Limassol District Court had released him on probation.
