A report regarding the disappearance of an elderly woman, who had not been seen by a relative for about ten years, prompted the police to search a home in the Marathon area.
Specifically, the case began about two weeks ago, when the elderly woman’s granddaughter contacted the authorities and reported that she had lost contact with her a decade ago.

According to her, the woman, who would be about 90 years old today, lived with her daughter and grandson in the Marathon Beach area. According to the report, the grandson is struggling with mental health issues.
Police officers determined through the e-EFKA system that the elderly woman’s death had not been reported, which led to a further investigation.

Today, teams equipped with specialized machinery conducted searches in the yard of the house where the family lived, initially without finding anything.
During the search, however, the elderly woman’s daughter reportedly revealed that her mother had been buried at that exact spot about ten years ago so that her pension payments could continue.
The prosecutor was informed of the case, who ordered that no arrest be made at this stage and that the police continue gathering evidence and forward the material to the courts.
The elderly woman’s granddaughter, who lived in France and recently returned to Greece, was the one who contacted the authorities, as she was unable to locate her.
