Yesterday, the police made five new arrests in connection with an ongoing investigation into a conspiracy to commit murder and participation in a criminal organization. The investigation began after information was sent to the Cyprus Police, via Europol, by Danish authorities regarding planned murders in Cyprus for hire.
The new arrests were made in the Paphos district as part of a police operation, bringing the total number of arrests in this case to eight. Meanwhile, the investigation into the case is continuing under a Special Investigation Team from Police Headquarters, in cooperation with law enforcement authorities in other countries and Europol.
As part of the investigation, following an evaluation of information and evidence, evidence emerged against the five individuals, for whom arrest warrants have been issued. They include two 22-year-olds, a 21-year-old, a 25-year-old, and a 28-year-old.

Yesterday, during a coordinated police operation in the Paphos district, a vehicle carrying the aforementioned individuals was stopped, and they were arrested pursuant to court warrants to facilitate the investigation.
During a search of the vehicle, a pistol, two knives, gloves, masks, and three cell phones were found and seized. A search was also conducted at the suspects’ residence in Paphos, where eight cell phones, $1,400 in cash, as well as a number of documents, notes, and other evidence.

The five suspects have been taken into custody and are expected to appear in court today for a detention order to be issued.
It should be noted that in connection with the same case, following an investigation and evaluation of the information gathered as part of a police operation, in the districts of Larnaca and Famagusta, three individuals, aged 33, 34, and 35, were arrested pursuant to court warrants to facilitate the investigations and are currently being held in custody for eight days.
According to statements made in court, the targets were reportedly two foreign nationals, twin brothers, who were due to arrive in Cyprus for a vacation.
The investigation is continuing under the direction of a Special Investigation Team from Police Headquarters, in cooperation with the relevant European authorities.
