Sukarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, announced a suspension of flights until 9:30 a.m. on Sunday (local time, 5:30 a.m. in Greece) due to volcanic ash from Anak Krakatau.
This is essentially a four-hour extension of the measure announced earlier, which had affected 33 flights, including several international flights, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation.

The Anak Krakatau volcano erupted late Friday and remains in a phase of intense activity. Authorities note that there is currently no threat of a tsunami.

Anak Krakatau, which means “Child of Krakatau” in Indonesian, emerged from the sea in 1927 within the caldera of Krakatoa, the volcanic island destroyed by the historic eruption of 1883.
