The government is moving forward with significant changes to its policy of supporting families with children, as announced by the President of the Republic on the occasion of the start of the new school year.

At the heart of these changes is the Child Allowance, as the amount of the benefit is increasing and, at the same time, the number of families eligible to receive it is expanding.

The new income thresholds are being raised for all families. Specifically, for families with three dependent children, the upper limit is set at €90,000, while for families with four dependent children, it reaches €100,000.

As noted, this change is expected to provide significant relief to middle-class families, making it easier for them to access government assistance. At the same time, for families with five or more dependent children, the decision in effect since 2025—which stipulates that there are no income criteria—remains in force.

The new regulation also aims to address long-standing distortions in the system, the most significant of which is the discontinuation of support when there is even a slight increase in family income.

Following these changes, it is estimated that approximately 17,000 additional families will become eligible, while the total number of children expected to benefit exceeds 23,000.

At the same time, the tuition subsidy is being extended to children up to 4 years and 4 months of age, with the measure affecting approximately 2,000 families and 2,800 children.

According to the President of the Republic, these specific measures are part of the government’s policy to support families and improve citizens’ daily lives.

As he noted, the positive trajectory of the economy and economic growth create the conditions for implementing targeted measures in the areas of education, health, and the welfare state, with immediate social benefits.

A key objective of the government, according to the President, remains to boost citizens’ disposable income and channel the benefits of economic growth to society, with a particular focus on families and the middle class.
