Search efforts continue to locate the 15 missing persons following the deadly shipwreck that occurred off the coast of occupied Kyrenia, with the death toll now standing at 13.

As stated by the so-called prime minister of the pseudo-state, Ounal Ustel, five of the missing have been located to date, while search and rescue operations continue using all available resources.

According to him, as the days go by, operating conditions are becoming increasingly difficult, especially for the teams working underwater and inside the sunken ship.

“For us, there is one and only one goal: to locate all of our missing persons,” he stated emphatically, noting that, despite the difficulties, operations are continuing from the air, at sea, underwater, and on land.

Oustel also noted that efforts are being made to utilize new technical capabilities and alternative methods, in addition to the operations already underway.

In this context, he said, technical staff from private companies with experience in deep-water operations and in salvaging sunken ships are conducting inspections in the accident area and at the wreck site, and are preparing preliminary reports.

The so-called prime minister of the pseudo-state also announced that he will travel to Istanbul, where he will review the reports from the private companies and assess the next steps, both for locating the missing persons and for continuing work inside the ship or even for salvaging the wreck.

At the same time, he is expected to meet with senior executives of the ship’s insurance company, and after his meetings in Istanbul, he will travel to Ankara for meetings, as he stated, “at the highest level.”

Upon completing his meetings, Ustel said that a roadmap for the coming period would be presented to the families of the missing and to the public.

“We will not leave behind even a single question such as, ‘Could we have done anything more?’” he said, asserting that all available resources and methods will be utilized to locate the missing persons.
