From the start of the season, Ferrari had set its sights on the Italian Grand Prix with the goal of celebrating a victory on home soil.

Ferrari’s misfortune continued when, on just the second lap, the Monegasque driver lost control of his car and crashed into the guardrails at high speed, resulting in his retirement from the race and a red flag.
