The Democratic Alarm is moving toward internal party elections, with tensions behind the scenes escalating day by day.
Anita Dimitriou and Averof Neophytou were unable to bridge their differences at the September 3 meeting, as both believe they can successfully lead the party into the presidential election campaign.
The DISY president highlights, among other things, her electability, while the party’s former president cites his political experience and the influence he claims to wield both among newly formed political groups and within the political center.

At the same time, reports indicate that Giorgos Pamporidis has informed Anita Dimitriou that he will withdraw his candidacy if Averof Neophytou does the same.
Anita’s Demands
In an interview with “Kathimerini,” however, Anita Dimitriou leaves open the possibility of an agreement on a joint candidate.
And despite the fact that she is making all the necessary moves behind the scenes, she has chosen not to officially announce her candidacy just yet.
“I will make my decision when the time comes. The key criterion is party unity—so that we can achieve our primary goal: to fight this battle with a strong chance of success.”

He indicated that, should internal party elections ultimately take place, everyone will rally behind the candidate chosen by the party’s grassroots.
