Espanyol and Sevilla played to a 1-1 draw in the fourth matchday of La Liga.
The first half was rather lacking in scoring opportunities and excitement. Possession was evenly split, with neither team able to find openings, and goalkeepers Dmitrovic and Vlachodimos facing virtually no danger in their respective goal areas.
Things took a different turn in the second half when, in the 56th minute, the visitors were reduced to ten men following Sagande’s red card. Six minutes later, the Catalans managed to score through El Hilali, but after a VAR review, the referee ruled it offside.
Sevilla had a great chance in the 68th minute with a shot by Stasin from a favorable position, which was saved by Dmitrovic, and they gradually began to gain ground on the field despite being a man down.
Then, in the 85th minute, the same player beat the opposing goalkeeper with a beautiful volley from inside the box and put Sevilla ahead. Everything pointed to the Andalusians coming away with the win. However, Fernández had other ideas, and with a close-range header in the 90+8th minute, he set the final score at 1-1.
