A new chapter is beginning for EDEK, with Sofia Christodoulou Makri emerging as the party’s new president at the age of just 27.
Her election marks a significant generational shift in EDEK’s leadership, as she becomes both the first woman and the youngest president in the party’s history. In the internal party elections on September 5, she received 1,191 votes, or 53.5 percent, securing her election in the first round. Koulis Mavronikolas received 788 votes and Giorgos Koutoukis 246, while a total of 2,233 members cast their ballots.
