Panathinaikos has decided not to attend the meeting scheduled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) with the Stoiximan GBL teams regarding the issue of refereeing. Although the federation invited the clubs to participate in three groups—with the first group including Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, PAOK, Aris, and AEK, the “Greens” officially responded that they would not participate in the process.
According to reports, Panathinaikos BC recalled all the times it has expressed its disagreement regarding the composition and operation of the Central Refereeing Committee (KED), as well as the method of appointing and evaluating referees in recent years. It emphasized that it considers any meeting pointless, since the federation has not acknowledged the mistakes that—as it claims—have also been pointed out by the majority of teams.
At the same time, the “Greens” once again attached the fully costed proposal they had submitted on January 22, 2025, regarding professional refereeing and its integration into the Hellenic Basketball League (ESAKE), noting that it constitutes a basis for discussion only if the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) demonstrates a willingness to make substantive changes to the personnel, staffing, and operation of Greek refereeing.
