A 65-year-old man is fighting for his life; he is being treated in extremely critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Trikala General Hospital, following a severe choking incident caused by food.
According to trikalanews, the incident occurred on the evening of Monday, September 7, at a fast-food restaurant in downtown Trikala, where the 65-year-old man was eating when, under circumstances that are under investigation, he apparently choked on food and lost consciousness.

The National Ambulance Service (EKAV) was immediately notified, and the paramedics who arrived at the scene began resuscitation efforts. The man was then rushed to Trikala General Hospital.
Despite the efforts of the paramedics and medical staff, his condition remains extremely serious. The 65-year-old was intubated and admitted to the ICU, where he remains hospitalized.
According to available information, the man resides permanently abroad and had traveled to Greece on vacation.
