After 2.5 years with Panathinaikos, Tasos Bakasetas ended his time with the “Greens,” and immediately after his transfer to APOEL, he bid farewell to the “clover” with a message on social media.
The captain of the Greek national team reflected on his time with the club, expressing his regret that he was unable to celebrate winning the league title with Panathinaikos.
In his message, he thanked Yiannis Alafouzos, the coaches, his teammates, the medical and training staff, the club’s employees, and, of course, the Panathinaikos fans.
In detail: “The time has come, after two and a half years, for me to leave Panathinaikos with the regret that we were unable to bring the team back to the top. It was a tremendous honor and responsibility to wear the captain’s armband, but I’m leaving with a clear conscience, knowing that I never stopped striving for the best. I feel the need to thank everyone I’ve worked with: the team president, Mr. Yiannis Alafouzos, for his support; the coaching staff; and, of course, all my teammates.
The fans for their love of the team, but also for the criticism that helps us become better. The physical therapists, especially Mike and Panagiotis, for their tireless work and for being there for me during difficult injuries. All the trainers, especially Panagiotis, Angelos, and Vasilis, who did everything they could to keep me in top shape.
The people who work every day at the club, away from the spotlight. Finally, my loved ones. The team managers Nektarios, Giannis, Theo, and Christos. The exercise physiologists Giorgos Papadimitriou and Giannis Tsekouras. Giorgos Mountakis, who is always there, and of course Mr. Grigoris Papavasileiou, who is an exceptional and kind-hearted person.”
