Zinedine Zidane took a clear stance in the ongoing debate over the greatest soccer player of all time, praising Lionel Messi and everything he continues to achieve at the age of 39.
The French legend of world soccer made no secret of his admiration for the Argentine, emphasizing that his presence and influence remain so significant that they cannot be ignored even at this age. In fact, when asked about the possibility of voting for him for yet another major individual award, he was unequivocal.

“I would vote for Messi 100 times,” Zidane said emphatically, explaining that he finds it impressive that the Argentine continues to rank among the world’s top soccer players.
“I think people really don’t understand how incredible it is to still be among the best players in the world at 39,” he said, emphasizing Messi’s longevity and consistency at the highest level.
Zidane added that he wouldn’t be at all surprised if Messi won yet another major individual award, noting that he continues to put in performances that keep him in the conversation for the highest honors in soccer.
The Frenchman’s most telling comment, however, came when he was asked about the famous “GOAT” debate. There, Zidane left no room for misinterpretation.
“If anyone still has doubts about who the GOAT is, then they really don’t understand soccer,” was his clear stance.
