Police in Nicosia are investigating a case involving an assault and acts intended to cause serious bodily injury. Two 32-year-olds were arrested to facilitate the investigation.
According to the evidence under review, around 9 p.m. last night, the two 32-year-olds went to an area in the Nicosia district, where they met a 30-year-old man. In that area, one of the two 32-year-old suspects, while driving his car under circumstances that are under investigation, struck the 30-year-old with his vehicle; subsequently, he also struck a 32-year-old acquaintance of the 30-year-old with his vehicle, who had rushed to the scene.
The 32-year-old driver of the car fled the scene. The second 32-year-old suspect, who had arrived at the scene on a motorcycle, remained at the scene. He attacked the 30-year-old, who, however, managed to subdue him.
Police officers were called to the scene and conducted an investigation, leading to the arrest of the 32-year-old motorcycle driver. Subsequently, the second 32-year-old suspect was located and arrested by police officers pursuant to a court warrant.
Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle driven by the 32-year-old had been reported stolen on August 30, 2026, at the Nicosia Police Station.
This morning, the two suspects were brought before the Nicosia District Court, which granted the police’s request and issued an order for their eight-day detention, for the purposes of police investigations.
The two complainants, aged 30 and 32, were transported to Nicosia General Hospital, where it was determined that the 32-year-old had sustained injuries to his chest and leg. He was admitted for treatment, and his condition is considered stable. The 30-year-old was also admitted for treatment as a precaution.
The Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation.
