There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of four individuals for various offenses, including car theft and failure to comply with court orders.
As part of these operations, 428 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 565 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 37 inspections were conducted at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in 4 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 337 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 12 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 60 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 6 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 267 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 2 citations, as well as 6 preliminary drug tests, one of which was positive.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
