Statements by the Anorthosis spokesperson
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The team’s press officer, Charalambos Parpetas, spoke to “SPOR FM 95.0” about everything related to Anorthosis.

He emphasized the importance of the upcoming derby against APOEL, analyzed the match statistics, and noted that the certificate had been received from the stadium licensing authority.

He also stated that they are expecting a large crowd for their first home game of the season, and regarding Giannis Maniatis, he revealed that the player is already in Cyprus and has started training.

Here are his comments in detail

On the match against APOEL: “The tough schedule continues with APOEL at home. The team showed improvement against Apollon compared to the season opener. We’re not satisfied with the result, but we’re keeping up the effort. There’s room for improvement, as the coach said. We’re making progress; it’s the result of hard work. Our sole focus is to be fully prepared for the match against APOEL and secure our first points. Anorthosis can be more competitive and play better. Obviously, we need points. If the team continues on an upward trajectory, the points will follow.”

On team news: “Bergström is out due to a heel injury; his condition is being evaluated daily. Furtado is stepping up his training every day and has a good chance of making the roster. Van Neef is suspended. Artymatas is gradually improving; he’s in better shape thanks to training.”

Regarding the East Stand: “In full consultation with the licensing authority, we proceeded with upgrades and maintenance of the stadium in various areas. Everything is proceeding in accordance with the relevant authorities, and we have received the necessary certification. The East Stand required more time because the permits were processed in August. The certificate is valid until January 31, 2027.”

To the fans: “This is our first home game. We want the atmosphere that only our fans know how to create. We need their support. We’re calling on the fans to push the team toward its first win. The momentum is very good. Season tickets are nearing 5,000. 600 tickets have been sold to APOEL. We’re expecting a big crowd at the match.”

Regarding APOEL tickets: “We allocated 10%, which means 800 tickets for the visiting team.”

On Maniatis: “He has been announced as the new executive director. He’s best remembered as a soccer player, but since retiring, he has served as general manager at Panionios and Olympiacos U21. His hiring is part of the effort to upgrade the company. He is responsible for several things beyond the sporting side—including personnel management, finances, and more. He is in Cyprus and has already assumed his duties.”
