The General Assembly held today (September 10) at the ESAKE offices, with regard to the Stoiximan GBL teams, focused primarily on the issue of increasing the number of foreign players that teams are allowed to field per game.
That is, those who do not hold a Greek passport. Up until this season, all coaches were allowed to field up to six such players, and a proposal to increase that number to seven has been on the table for some time.

It was approved by a majority, with eight teams voting in favor, four against, and one abstention. Now that the proposal has passed through the Greek Basketball League (ESAKE), the next step is to submit it to the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) to see if it can actually be implemented. The Federation’s approval is, of course, essential. If officials disagree, it is unlikely that this plan will move forward.
If this new regulation is ratified, teams are expected to be able to register and have up to seven foreign players on their rosters. We would also like to point out that this issue— namely the increase in the allowed number of foreign players, has been a topic of discussion among the basketball clubs for quite some time, with some teams having already expressed a positive view on the possibility of its implementation.
