The bond that José Luis Mendilibar had built with his players was particularly strong, as evidenced by the farewell they gave him.

Another player, Santiago Ese, sent a touching message to the Basque coach. He noted that what stood out above all else was the conduct of both the coach and his staff, as they were always there for the players.

He described them as “a wonderful group of people.”

“An incredible journey has come to an end after two and a half years. There were wonderful moments, but also some that weren’t so good, but throughout this entire journey, you and your coaching staff have always stood by our side—and that is what I’ll remember most from the time we spent together.

Beyond the titles we won and the history we made together, I’m saying goodbye to a fantastic group of people.
