Arina Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will face off on Saturday (11:00 p.m.) in the US Open final.
The 28-year-old Belarusian (No. 1) defeated Jessica Pegula (No. 3) 7-5, 6-2 in 80 minutes and aims to win her third consecutive title at the tournament.
Rybakina (Kazakhstan, No. 2) staged a major comeback against Coco Gauff (USA, No. 4), winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in 2 hours and 8 minutes.
Sabalenka and Rybakina have faced each other 17 times in the past, with Sabalenka holding a 10-7 lead. This year, she has won two of their three matches, but her only loss came in the Australian Open final!
Regardless of the outcome of the final, Rybakina will rise to the top of the world rankings on Monday, pushing Sabalenka down to No. 2.
