DIKO is currently part of the ruling coalition alongside Nicos Christodoulides, but has not yet decided on the direction it will take starting in 2028 and beyond, said DIKO Vice President Chrysanthos Savvides from the studio of the Alpha Kalimera show.
When asked whether Mr. Christodoulides had rallied his DIKO ministers to his side, he replied:
“Everyone is free to express their views. There are collective bodies. I am also the party’s first vice president; we’ll sit down, talk it over, and decide in due course. That’s all I can say.”
He wonders whether Savvides decides on his own as vice president, or whether it’s Nikolas or someone else.
When asked to comment on Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides’ statement on ANT1 that DIKO has a President of the Republic and a candidate for 2028, he says:
“All right, other colleagues have expressed a different opinion and have done so publicly. I’m saying what’s logical and what should be done; when the time comes, we’ll sit down together and decide.”
“It’s a mistake to jump the gun; there are collective bodies—that’s why the party exists,” he adds.
“What does a party mean? We share certain common views; that’s why we’re part of this party. We’ll sit down and decide in due course.”
He points out that, for the time being, they have a President of the Republic whom they supported, and they are participating in the coalition government.
“When all the facts are available to us, we’ll discuss it,” he concludes.
