Tassos Hatzigiovanis is now a member of OFI, making his first statements as a player for the Cretan team!
The former Omonia winger described OFI as a role model for other Greek teams and emphasized that the decision to join Kontis’s squad was an easy one.
Here’s what he said in detail:
“I’m very happy to be part of the OFI family. We’d been talking for a few days, and when I learned of their interest, I didn’t think twice and immediately made the decision to come here and wear the OFI jersey. In recent years, OFI has been making a great impression and should serve as an example for all the other Greek teams.”
On his goals: “I want to win trophies with OFI, just as the guys have done—and they deserve a lot of credit. I want to achieve the same thing alongside them, and when a team wins trophies, it grows. That’s my goal: for OFI to finish in the top spots and be competitive with the other big teams.”
On what he knows about OFI: “I know there’s a family at OFI; I want to become a part of it, and I can’t wait to get started and meet the rest of the guys. Goals, assists, playing, enjoying soccer, and having fun in every match, while improving under my coach—and I’d also like to thank Mr. Kontis.”
On the offer he accepted: “When you get an offer from OFI—which, for me, is a great team with a strong fan base behind it—and when you see—because I’ve been following them— the attractive style of soccer they play, the fact that they have a good coach, and that they win trophies—all of these things made it easier for me to make my decision.”
On why his decision was easy, as well as the presence of Christos Kontis: “All of that played a role, but it was very easy—the coach and the president explained the plan to me, and overall it was a very easy decision. I don’t want to talk about myself, but what I feel as Tasos and the strengths I have are dribbling and one-on-one play; I feel more mature, more ready. I think I have a good cross and shot, OFI is a team that moves the ball around; they have a specific game plan, and I like that plan because you get to enjoy the game—the more possession you have, the more you enjoy it.”
On OFI’s style of play and his own feelings: “I’m very familiar with OFI’s style of play; I know Mr. Kontis’s philosophy— he was my coach at Panathinaikos, so I’m familiar with his style of play, and I can’t wait to start training and playing matches so I can be part of this beautiful game.”
