New details are emerging about the final moments of Giorgos Mazonakis at the Elias Theodoropoulos Stem Cell clinic in Kolonaki, where he suffered a cardiac arrest while undergoing plasmapheresis.
According to corroborated information from protothema.gr, Ilias Theodoropoulos himself called the National Ambulance Service (EKAV) at 4:23 p.m., stating that he had a patient—a 55-year-old man who was likely showing no vital signs— on whom he was performing CPR.
When the EKAV paramedics arrived at 4:26 p.m., they saw Mr. Theodoropoulos performing CPR on Mazonakis himself. They asked the clinic owner to inform them whether any medications had been administered to the patient—and if so, which ones—so they could relay this information to Elpis Hospital, where the singer was to be transferred
Mr. Theodoropoulos informed them that he had administered a 1 mg injection of epinephrine, without specifying when this had taken place. Subsequently, in the presence of the paramedics, the doctor administered another injection to Giorgos Mazonakis, but there was no improvement.
Mr. Theodoropoulos himself reportedly claims that he had no involvement in this specific incident, as he was away from his office. According to his account, he had three other patient appointments that day, and at the time in question, he had left to go to lunch. As he reportedly claims, he was informed of the incident while he was away from the clinic.
According to reports, the taxi driver who transported Giorgos Mazonakis to 11 Karneadou Street gave a statement to the authorities, confirming the conflicting accounts given by the couple, Ilias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka. The couple, both doctors, claimed that the singer arrived late for his appointment around 4:30 p.m., a claim that is clearly contradicted by the call to EKAΒ made at 4:21 p.m. The taxi driver testified that he picked up Mazonakis at 1:55 p.m. outside the doctor’s office.
