Iranian President Masoud Pezeskian said Saturday that the Middle East does not need the United States to act as a “regional policeman,” as the two countries are at war and competing for control of the Strait of Hormuz.
“We don’t need a regional police officer: the territorial integrity and security of the region can only be guaranteed by its key players and the countries that comprise it,” he stated on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India, specifically during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
