Richarlison’s transfer to Vasco da Gama appears to be definitively off the table, with the Brazilian forward remaining, at least for now, at Tottenham.
According to the BBC and Sammy Mokbel, the two clubs had reached an agreement on the financial terms of the transfer, paving the way for the 29-year-old star’s return to Brazil. However, a sticking point arose regarding the player’s personal salary and contract terms, causing the negotiations to reach an impasse.
The transfer window in Brazil closes on Friday night, and given the current situation, it appears increasingly likely that Richarlison will remain at Tottenham.
The Brazilian international’s future has been up in the air for quite some time. This followed the collapse of his move to Everton, a deal reportedly worth 35 million pounds that also fell through due to a disagreement over personal terms.
Meanwhile, Richarlison has been left off Tottenham’s Premier League roster, and there has been a dispute between the two sides regarding the final nine months of his contract. The player reportedly wants to be released from the remainder of his contract, which expires next summer, while Tottenham retains the right to unilaterally extend it for another year.
