A pre-litigation payment notice for 13,500 euros was issued to a 36-year-old man in connection with a poaching case.
The investigation into the case was prompted by the discovery by members of the Poaching Suppression Unit of the MMAD of 17 wild birds, trapped in netting, inside a fenced-in field in an area of the Larnaca district on September 8, 2026. At the site, along with five trapping nets, a device for producing imitation bird calls was also found.
The 17 live wild birds were released back into their natural habitat, and subsequent investigations revealed that the 36-year-old man is the manager of the site.
The Kofinou Regional Police Station took charge of the investigation, in cooperation with the Game and Wildlife Service.
Today, upon completion of the investigation, members of the Kofinou Police Station issued the 36-year-old a formal notice to pay the sum of 13,500 euros, in accordance with the legislation on the protection and management of wild birds and game.
