Determined not to let them get away with it… that’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s response to the fans’ disgusting chants about the tragically lost Diogo Jota.
The 41-year-old superstar asked the Saudi Pro League to impose a lifetime ban from the stadiums on any fans involved in the incident, during which Ruben Neves appeared to be the target of mocking chants regarding his late friend and teammate.
Zota passed away in July 2025, at the age of just 28. He and his 25-year-old brother, André Silva, lost their lives when the car they were riding in crashed in Zamora, Spain.
After that chant, Neves sarcastically applauded the fans, and as he walked past the press representatives after the match, he told the reporters: “I just hope they don’t go pray later, after what they did.”
Ronaldo, who plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, was a teammate of Neves on the Portuguese national team and had played alongside the late Zota. He called for this behavior to be punished, adding that those involved “should never be allowed to enter a stadium again.”
In a post on Instagram, Ronaldo wrote: “The league must take action and punish this kind of fan behavior. This is no longer soccer, and there must be limits. People who behave this way should never again be allowed to enter a stadium.”
