Now that he’s 35, Neymar may no longer be a key player for Santos, but he helps the team in other ways.
Through his company, “NR Sports,” the Brazilian superstar has settled a two-million-euro debt with Monaco, allowing the ban to be lifted. In exchange, his company has secured advertising space on the club’s uniforms, including the Pelé brand, which now appears on the jersey.
At the same time, he was the one who convinced Arthur Melo, a former player for Barcelona, Juventus, and Liverpool, to join Santos, as well as Philippe Coutinho, who has reportedly agreed to join the team led by his former national teammate.
Santos is going through a difficult period, as it sits in 13th place in the Brazilian league, just seven points above the relegation zone, and is under a three-transfer ban due to debt related to the 2023 transfer of Jean Lucas from Monaco.
