The delightful Babis Kostoulas turned Brighton’s tough away game into a party! With the Greek striker opening his account in this year’s Premier League and earning a penalty, the “Seagulls” cruised to a comfortable 5-0 victory at Coventry!
It was an outstanding performance by Brighton, with Kostoulas tearing apart Frank Lampard’s defense, which, after Avonigi’s ejection in the 53rd minute, , completely fell apart.
Kostoulas found the net in the 36th minute when, after a fantastic feint, he cut inside to his right, unleashed a magnificent volley, and sent it past Answorth into the net for the 0-1 lead, which was also the halftime score.
In the 51st minute, Brighton made it 2-0 when, after a clearance, Yalkouye beat Amenda to it, broke away on the counterattack, and found himself one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, where he slotted the ball past him to make things easier for his team. Just two minutes later, the balance of the game shifted numerically as well, as Avonigi was sent off with a straight red card.
In the 68th minute, in a moment of… magic, Kostoulas danced past the Coventry defense and was brought down inside the box, prompting the referee to award a penalty, which Gross converted to make it 0-3!
In the 83rd minute, the score became 0–4, and it was spectacular! Following a corner kick, the ball reached Dunk just outside the box, and from a distance of nearly 35 meters, he took a shot and scored an incredible goal. Shortly before the final whistle, Brighton didn’t let up and scored a fifth goal when Ayari found himself in a good position outside the box, scoring a beautiful chip shot to make it 0-5!
Coventry, currently at the bottom of the table without having scored in any of its first four Premier League matches, must find solutions to avoid immediate danger.
