Thousands of people welcomed the body of Giorgos Mazonakis with prolonged applause and songs at the Holy Trinity Church in Nikaia, where it will lie in state until Monday morning.
Since early afternoon, the streets of Nikaia have been packed with people, as fans of the singer have been arriving from all over Greece to say goodbye to their beloved singer.

Just before the body is carried into the church, the gathered crowd chants “immortal” for Giorgos Mazonakis, while throwing flowers onto the hearse carrying his body.
All united in tribute to Mazonakis
Fans and colleagues of the singer have been singing along to the artist’s greatest hits for some time now, such as “You Are My Last Mistake” and “Short Hours.”
