EDEK is moving forward with the reversal of all expulsions, “writing,” as the party’s new President, Sofia Christodoulou, states, “the first chapter in EDEK’s new chapter.”
According to a post by the party, the decision was made unanimously at a meeting of the Committee appointed by the Extraordinary Pan-Cypriot Congress for the Reorganization of the Registry and Conference Coordination, with EDEK emphasizing that “we are carrying out the mandate given to us by the grassroots.”

“A decision with a clear political message and substance: the reinstatement of all expelled members without terms or conditions. Any members who were expelled may, if they so wish, return to EDEK with full rights and the corresponding obligations.”
As noted, the reinstatement is universal and applies to everyone, without exception. For those, however, who have since joined another party or political group, their readmission to EDEK requires that they first completely sever ties with that group.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for EDEK. The lifting of all expulsions is a necessary political decision that allows EDEK to turn the page, grow again, and engage with society through political discourse,” the statement adds.
