UEFA President Alexander Čeferin, who emphasized in his remarks that the Federation, under the leadership of Makis Gagatsis, is doing an excellent job.
At the same time, he expressed optimism following the rejection of Infantino’s plan to sell shares in the World Cup, adding that the future of Greek soccer is bright.
“Grassroots soccer is essential. The top level must support grassroots soccer. Without grassroots soccer, there are no top players. Kids don’t enjoy life. They become healthier by playing soccer. You don’t have to expect everyone to become top soccer players, but grassroots soccer is the key.
Greece has a fantastic history in many areas, and soccer is one of them. The Federation, under Makis Gagatsis, is doing an excellent job. You’ll still need to work on relations between the clubs—and especially their complaints about refereeing—but I think the situation is better than it was a few years ago. I am certain that the future of Greek soccer is bright.
The most encouraging thing is that soccer is not for sale and that we all understand that we are not for sale. Soccer is for everyone and should be played by everyone. We are in complete agreement on this,” Ceferin explained in detail.
