The police are taking statements following a complaint filed by the Ministry of Health regarding a medical center in Larnaca where hemodialysis machines were found.

This is a center that has been the subject of complaints in the past; as the Minister of Health stated on Tuesday, it provides services without being licensed as a medical facility.

Speaking on the “Alpha Kalimera” program, Police Spokesperson Byron Vyronos noted that the complaint was filed with the authorities following an inspection by medical services to investigate the treatments being performed there.

According to Mr. Vyronos, instructions were immediately given for a specific police unit to begin conducting investigations, which are currently ongoing.

He added that the police have begun taking statements.

“Statements will be taken from all those involved and from the individuals who performed the check.”

Once the preliminary investigation is complete, the case file will be sent to the Legal Service for further instructions.

Commenting on the investigation previously conducted by the authorities regarding the same center—a case in which the Legal Service determined there were insufficient grounds to proceed—Mr. Vyronos emphasized “It is one thing to make public statements and quite another to establish criminal offenses based on the laws in force.”
