Omonia’s European campaign in the Europa League group stage begins tonight (September 16 – 7:45 p.m.) against Celta at GSP Stadium.
The “Greens” are aiming for a strong run that will bring not only on-field success but also revenue from UEFA.
So far, the “clover” has earned nearly €6,000,000 from qualifying for the competition’s group stage, including bonuses from the qualifying rounds, the “value pillar,” and so on.
What is the “value pillar”?
Teams will also receive revenue from television rights, with UEFA introducing a new revenue-sharing system called the “value pillar,” which is essentially a combination of the market pool and the team’s ranking (club coefficients).
The “value pillar” will be divided into two parts: the European and the non-European.
The first will cover the sale of television rights in UEFA markets, and the second will cover the remaining markets. Each club receives revenue from both markets.
As for the European portion, participating teams are ranked based on each country’s TV broadcaster’s share of total TV revenue in each competition cycle.
The match bonuses awarded by UEFA in the Europa League:
- €450,000 for each win in the League Phase
