The preliminary hearing for the two doctors accused in the case of the death of the well-known Greek singer, Giorgos Mazonakis, lasted a total of approximately 18 hours.
Despite the explanations they reportedly provided, the investigating judge and the prosecutor ultimately decided to place them in pretrial detention.
The second accused doctor appeared before the investigating judge immediately after his wife finished giving her testimony. His own proceedings lasted approximately four hours, during which he attempted to clarify the role he did or did not play in the events of the day in question.
According to reports, the central tenet of his defense was that he had not been informed of the incident in a timely manner. The doctor reportedly claimed that he was informed of what had happened after 4:00 p.m. and that prior to that, he was unaware that there was any problem.
