On Wednesday, she withdrew the election petition she had filed with the Electoral Court, in which she contested the results of the parliamentary elections in the Nicosia District, former DISY candidate Anastasia Anthousi.
The Electoral Court approved her request to withdraw the petition, thereby bringing the related legal proceedings to a close.
The petition, which had been filed in July, concerned the vote count at a polling station in Nikitari and the resulting discrepancy in the allocation of parliamentary seats.
According to the petition, five EDEK ballots had initially been counted and recorded as ELAM ballots and were subsequently transferred to EDEK after an error was discovered in the initial count.
This change affected the allocation of seats in four electoral districts and resulted in Ms. Anthousi not being elected in Nicosia.
In her petition, Ms. Anthousi requested a recount of that specific ballot box, challenging the procedure by which the five votes were corrected retroactively.
