On September 23, the 30-year-old man will hear his sentence for the theft of a priest’s vehicle, who was acquitted of the charges related to the murder of businessman Stavros Demosthenous, which occurred on October 17, 2025
It should be noted that at the previous hearing, on the instructions of the Attorney General, criminal proceedings against the 30-year-old and two other defendants were suspended.
Today, the court heard the facts of the case regarding the theft of a priest’s vehicle, which the 30-year-old admitted to.
As stated, the 30-year-old had instructed another person to steal the vehicle, and when the theft was committed, the 30-year-old reportedly told him, “Come on, drive it to Nicosia and bring it back.” That person allegedly received €300 from the defendant for stealing the vehicle.
This individual had previously been arrested in connection with the murder case but was not prosecuted because he will be called as a prosecution witness.

Subsequently, the 30-year-old arranged to give the vehicle to another person. The vehicle was located on October 14 near the Sfalangiotisa Cemetery, and Defendant 1 was arrested on October 19, stating that he would say everything he had to say in court.
Before the Criminal Court, reference was also made to previous convictions, including the discovery of a cell phone while he was in custody. As stated in court, when his cell was searched, he said, “The thing you’re looking for is behind the outlet; I didn’t use it.”
The defense attorney submitted his closing argument in writing and spoke verbally about the defendant’s personal circumstances, while the court set the sentencing hearing for September 23, when it will also announce the dates on which sentences will be handed down to the remaining defendants.
