AEL has chosen to pursue the Kafou case through official channels via the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), requesting that the information in its possession be investigated.
The team’s press officer, Nikolas Leventis, stated in an interview with SuperSport 104 that there are reports of a possible third party’s involvement in the decision regarding the player, with the “blue-and-yellows” calling for an independent investigation.
At the same time, he made it clear that, should this information be confirmed, the possibility of match-fixing would also need to be examined, describing the incident as particularly serious.
In detail: “From the very beginning, we chose to take legal and institutional action through the Federation because we are not investigators. If the information we have at our disposal is confirmed—namely, that a third party was involved in the decision regarding Kafou—then we will need to examine the matter for possible match-fixing as well. “This is a very serious incident, and a request has been made for an independent investigation,”
