There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of three individuals for various offenses, including illegal residence and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 597 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 777 occupants were checked. At the same time, 35 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in three complaints.
During the traffic checks carried out, 314 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 13 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 89 were for speeding, and as part of police investigations, 8 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 115 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 9 citations, as well as 6 preliminary drug tests, all of which came back negative.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
