Mazonakis had an appointment with the sleep therapist after the plasmapheresis, because Gaka sent him the photo and the text messages they exchanged

"I made the appointment; I'm not a doctor," says Komianos

New revelations—and new questions—are emerging in the case of the sudden death of Giorgos Mazonakis. The artist had an appointment with hypnotherapist Nasios Komianos at his office in Kifissia following the fateful visit for bloodletting at the Karneadou clinic, which ultimately never took place, as the singer passed away. At the same time, the question arises as to why Ioanna Gaka, who is currently in pretrial detention, sent a photograph of Giorgos Mazonakis to the hypnotherapist.

Mr. Komianos himself, speaking to Mega, gave his own account, which is, however, disputed by the Mazonakis family, which is awaiting the lifting of the confidentiality order on Gaka’s and Theodoropoulos’s phone records.

According to the hypnotherapist, Ioanna Gaka sent a photo of the 54-year-old singer while he was undergoing bloodletting. As he stated, they exchanged text messages with the doctor. “What’s going on, is he coming?” he asked her, wanting to know if their appointment with Mazonakis was still on. According to him, she replied, “Everything’s fine,” and sent him a photo of herself with a little heart underneath.

Mr. Komianos’s response to a related question has caused quite a stir: “All I can tell you is that, in my opinion, he is alive in this photo. That’s what I think. I mean, I can’t know for sure. I’m not a doctor. A doctor would have to say so, but I was assured that he is alive. Not me. A doctor assured me that he’s alive. Do you understand? I was waiting to see how the investigation would unfold. “When I realized it had reached the point it had reached, I was compelled—not on my own, but on the advice of my attorneys—to come to Evelpidon today to testify,” he said emphatically.

The question, then, is why a doctor’s confirmation (from Ioanna Gaka, apparently, based on the context) as to whether Giorgos Mazonakis is alive, if there was no problem at that time?

As protothema has reported, in the photo, Mazonakis is lying in a hospital bed while the machine is running. He is wearing a yellow short-sleeved T-shirt, is covered from the waist down with a blanket, and has his head turned to the right, with his eyes closed. An IV catheter is visible on his right hand, and a similar connection appears to be present on his left as well.

According to data obtained from an examination of the doctor’s device, this photograph was taken at 14:43:36 on September 9. Shortly thereafter, at 14:45:22, a second photograph was taken, which was saved as a file four seconds later, at 14:45:26. This image was also found to have been deleted.

According to the available evidence, this specific time coincides with the start of the blood-drawing procedure on Giorgos Mazonakis. Both images were deleted shortly after 7:00 p.m. (7:09:13 p.m.), four seconds apart. A deleted video file was also found on the same device. The metadata indicates that it was created at 2:43:55 p.m., that is, between the two photos. This file had also been deleted; the forensic analysis places the deletion at 19:09:13 as well.

It should be noted that during her testimony, Ms. Gaka did not name the person to whom she had sent the photograph; however, she maintained that photographing patients is standard practice for her. At the same time, she clarified that the recipient of that particular photo was not her husband.

The Appointment in Kifissia

According to reports, the hypnotherapist was waiting for the popular singer at her office, where they were to discuss the possibility of him undergoing hypnotherapy during a future visit.

This account is supported by the fact that the taxi driver who picked up Giorgos Mazonakis on Wednesday (September 9) from his home in Voula to take him to Kolonaki, where he had an appointment at the Stem Cell clinic run by Ioanna Gaka and Ilias Theodoropoulos, testified that the singer asked him to drop him off at the clinic, at 11 Karneadou Street, and then to wait for him while he drove him to Kifissia, without, however, explaining why.

“We had agreed beforehand that I would wait for him to finish and that we would then go to Kifissia, without him telling me exactly where, except that we would stay in Kifissia for about two hours,”, the taxi driver states in his testimony.

According to information obtained by protothema, Giorgos Mazonakis and Nasos Komianos met for the first time two days before the singer’s death, on Monday, September 7, at a well-known restaurant in Psychiko, through the mediation of a mutual acquaintance. They spoke, and according to reports, rescheduled their appointment for that fateful Wednesday, September 9, when the hypnotherapist was to discuss with him and give him some medication so he would be ready for their next hypnotherapy session.

“I saw him for the first time on Monday; I set up the appointment.”

Mr. Komianos himself told Mega about his meeting with Mazonakis: “He came to me; we met at a neutral location. I set up the appointment with him. We started going over his medical history, but we didn’t finish the session, so we rescheduled for Wednesday. From that point on, it’s all just nonsense, as they say; I have no medical qualifications to be able to help or make any recommendations. You’ll find out the reason on Monday. I assure you. Right now, not even the investigator knows the reason… “Let’s stay calm because this whole story has really shaken us all up—damn the hour and the moment,” said the hypnotherapist, who revealed that Mazonakis had been a client of the Gaka – Theodoropoulos for the past 15 years, clarifying that the accused doctors did not refer him to them.

It should be noted, however, that Mr. Komianos makes it clear that he is by no means a doctor and that he will take legal action against anyone who spreads such information. “I have never said anything like that; I am by no means a doctor. I am a hypnotherapist and sleep therapist… “That’s what I say, that’s who I am, and that’s what I do—they can’t smear me,” while emphasizing that the photo of Mazonakis performing a bloodletting procedure was not sent to him by Gaka to help her, as has been reported. “It has nothing to do with the stories I hear on TV,” he claims, noting that he has known Ioanna Gaka for the past 14 years and that they had a professional relationship, as she referred her clients to him for hypnotherapy.

Gaka and Theodoropoulos were transferred to Korydallos tomorrow

Following the decision by the investigating judge and the prosecutor to remand them in custody pending trial for the death of Giorgos Mazonakis, Ioanna Gaka and Ilias Theodoropoulos were transferred in the early hours of Sundayto Korydallos Prison. The two defendants now face the felony charge of intentional homicide with possible malice aforethought, committed by omission, following the upgrade of the initial charge from causing death by negligence.

The decision to remand them in custody was made following a preliminary hearing lasting approximately 18 hours, while the defense has already announced that it will appeal the pretrial detention orders.

The emergency calls, the delay by the National Ambulance Service (EKAV), and the failure to provide assistance

The investigating judge and prosecutor attribute to the two defendants acts and omissions linked to the loss of human life, while their response to the blood-drawing machine’s alerts was specifically examined.

According to the information included in the reasoning, the alarms signaled a serious deterioration in Mazonakis’s condition; however, the hemodialysis procedure reportedly continued. At the same time, particular emphasis was placed on the delay in calling the National Ambulance Service (EKAV).

The judicial authorities reportedly concluded that the doctors did not call an ambulance in a timely manner, without providing sufficient justification for the delay, while at the same time, according to the reasoning, they were not in a position to provide the necessary assistance to revive the singer from cardiac arrest.

The ruling also notes that the two doctors performed serious medical procedures in a facility without the required authorization and without the appropriate equipment, and without first having conducted, according to the same reasoning, the necessary examinations of the patient. The judicial authorities are also reported to believe that certain actions hindered the further investigation of the case and concealed evidence, a factor that was taken into account in the decision on pretrial detention.

They will challenge the pretrial detention warrant

It should be noted, however, that according to a statement by the attorneys for the two doctors, they are expected to challenge the pretrial detention warrant, noting that, “their clients’ procedural rights have been grossly violated.” The statement in full: “The law firm ‘Nikos Agapinos and Associates,’ following the anticipated development regarding the procedural treatment of its clients, Ilias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka, as a result of the completely unjustified escalation of the charges, announces that it will immediately challenge the pretrial detention order before the competent Council, as it considers that the procedural rights of its clients have been grossly violated.”
