Barcelona continues to impress with its performances and has now recorded seven consecutive wins, a feat that sets a new record for the best start in the club’s history.
With last night’s 7-2 victory over Racing Santander at Camp Nou in LaLiga, the “Blaugrana” now have six league wins and one in the Champions League.
“Barça” kicked off the season with an away win over Elche (5-0), followed by victories over Athletic Bilbao (2-0), Rayo Vallecano (5-2), Valencia (5-0), Feyenoord (5-1), Levante (4-2), and yesterday against Racing (7-2).
Until now, the record was six wins in six games, a feat that had been achieved three times: in the 1929–30, 1960–61, and 2018–19 seasons. In all three instances, the teams won their first six games, but in none of those seasons did Barça reach the seventh match while maintaining a perfect record.
Hansy Flick’s team has scored 33 goals and conceded just 7 in these seven official matches. In the league, they are the first team in LaLiga history to start with 6 out of 6 wins and a +28 goal difference. Only one other team had scored as many goals in the first 6 matchdays of the Spanish league: Pepe Brandt’s Sevilla in 1940–41 (32 goals), although it won only 4 of its first 6 matches.
