A mugshot of a 35-year-old woman from Minnesota has gone viral in the U.S., not so much for the charge she faces as for her striking resemblance to Jennifer Lopez.
According to the New York Post, Sayrina Ann Quast was arrested on August 30, on charges of stealing two double packs of power tool batteries, worth a total of approximately $580, from a store in Monticello.
According to the complaint, an employee recognized the 35-year-old as the person allegedly involved in another theft at the same store two days earlier and notified the police. Quast reportedly admitted to taking the batteries and was arrested on a theft charge. However, what ultimately caught the internet’s attention was the photo of her taken after her arrest by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
The 35-year-old’s resemblance to 57-year-old Jennifer Lopez immediately sparked a flurry of comments on social media. “For a moment, I thought it was J.Lo,” wrote one user, while another jokingly commented that “there’s a glitch in the Matrix.”
Of course, there were plenty of references to Lopez’s famous song “Jenny from the Block,” since in American slang, the word “block” refers to both a neighborhood and a prison wing. “In prison, they know her as Jenny from D-Block,” joked one user. “She’s definitely still Jenny from the block,” read another comment.
Another user, also joking, suggested that Jennifer Lopez take a DNA test with the 35-year-old, writing that they need to find out if they’re… sisters.
Quast was released the day after her arrest. According to available online records, however, this was not the first time she had run into trouble with the law. In the past, she has been arrested for a series of offenses, including drug possession, driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances, fleeing from the police and providing false identification, as well as for several traffic violations.
