AEK secured a very easy victory, defeating Panserraikos by a wide margin of 8-1 in the third matchday of the League Phase of the Greek Cup.
This defeat, however, will go down in history for the Serres-based team, as it is the heaviest loss in its history! This crushing defeat surpassed yet another very recent negative record, as just a few months earlier, on May 21, 2026, Panserraikos had suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat at the hands of Atromitos in the Stoiximan Super League play-outs.
In fact, on the team’s official social media account, the background was changed, and the club’s emblem is now black—a symbolic gesture reflecting the weight of that historic defeat.
