Roula Pispirigou Appears in Court with a Cane for the Murder of Georgina

The autoimmune disease from which he suffers
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Early Friday morning, Roula Pispirigkou appeared before the Athens Mixed Jury Court of Appeals, for the second-instance trial concerning the death of her nine-year-old daughter, Georgina.

The defendant arrived at the courthouse shortly before 9:00 a.m. in a prison transport vehicle, from which she exited leaning on a walking cane.

However, according to reports, a motion for a postponement has also been filed for today.

The case concerns charges of intentional homicide—both completed and attempted—against the family’s eldest daughter. It should be noted that, in the first-instance trial, the court had unanimously found the defendant guilty.

The autoimmune disease from which Pispirigkou suffers

Roula Pispirigou has been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic, autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues and organs, causing inflammation.

Systemic lupus erythematosus can cause mobility problems, as in Pispirigou’s case, but it can also affect many other parts of the body, such as the skin, the kidneys, the brain, the heart, and the lungs, and is characterized by periods of flare-ups and remission.

Roula Pispirigkou’s doctors reported last June that, due to her autoimmune condition, she suffers from excruciating pain and has difficulty moving.

“The sight of Roula Pispirigou in court with her cane proves that her health problems are real and serious. Her autoimmune disease has left her immobile; she has problems with balance and stability. She underwent an examination by a Special Medical Committee inside the detention facility, and they provided her with a cane to help her get around. “A request has been filed for her to undergo a KEPA evaluation to determine her disability percentage,” her attorney, Vasso Pantazi, stated in June.
